Open Government
What does Open Government mean to you? How would you like to see th City improve upon it's communication and relationship with the community?

I like the fact that you have a blog, unlike the site for Zoppo who you have to email directly to her. Some people may not to state their email address and/or name if they have a concern/problem and just wnat to bring it up without causing to take a direct hit. Nice work - kep up the great job.
Open Government means allowing meetings to reach a natural conclusion, not pre-determining the outcome. Frankly I'm scared of politicians who want to do what they want without free input from the citizens.
Art: You say on your website that "all departments should be posting their board/commission minutes on the City website for the community to view at their convenience.". So how come the Bristol Development Authority hasn't posted their minutes in an entire year? I know Rosenthal has been told to do it but he says he's too busy. Isn't this the guy you want to put in charge of the Centre Mall property?
Artie....As Mayor, I would hope that you would lower taxes in the city of Bristol. I am a single mom that has worked her whole life to be a homeowner. I have raised a college bound daughter and have not a penny put away toward her education, nor toward my retirement. I am 47 y.o and she is sophomore in high school. we are not frivolous. with the rising cost of water, sewer,electric, taxes, etc... it comes down to, pay mortgage..... buy groceries.... Please lend a hand to us single paycheck homes that struggle on a daily basis to survive.... thanks....
Liberty,I commend you for your tenacity and perseverence, thank you for your comments regarding city government. My goal will be to prioritize municipal initiatives based upon the needs of the community and the responsible means of funding these types of projects. I hope that you will continue to be a part of this process by offering up your ideas, suggestions and opinions on these and all issues of importance to the City of Bristol.
I really believe that a lot of the business of the Special City Council meetings held over the last 2 years could have been handled at the regularly scheduled city council meetings. It is the choice of the Mayor to decide if/when a meeting is to be scheduled.

Al, as I said, "all departments should be posting" which means that I would be moving to make compliance mandatory, not optional.

Why was it necessary to have an emergency city council meeting last night? What couldn't wait until next week's regular meeting?
